Accountants FAQs

Questions accountants often ask us

How do I become an accounting partner?

Sign up as an accountant or bookkeeper . If you have signed up to Clear Books but do not have access to the Partner menu where you can manage your clients and get listed in our accountant directory then please contact us so we can switch it on for you.

How are VAT Returns dealt with?

A search for invoices between two dates is performed. The resulting invoices can be included or excluded from the Return. Once a Return is created and confirmed, the included invoices in the Return are flagged and will not be duplicated in future Returns.

Clear Books is HMRC recognised software for online VAT filing. VAT Returns in Clear Books can be submitted to HMRC at the click of a button.

Which VAT schemes are supported?

The standard scheme and flat rate scheme are both supported using accruals or cash accounting.

Current Limitation Part payments under cash accounting are not recognised on the VAT Return until an invoice is fully paid. The work around is to create a separate invoice for each part payment.
