VAT Calculator Free Tool

For a free online VAT Calculator from Clear Books try: VAT Calculator

One of our customers was having problems with a particular online VAT calculator. It turned out that the website in question didn’t actually calculate the VAT correctly.

Creating this free tool was welcome respite from the payroll calculations that I have been investigating of late. VAT is far simpler than payroll!

50 paid-up online accountancy software customers in the first month? You bet-cha!

Friday 18th September 2009 by Tim

(Aldershot, UK) Online accounting software company Clear Books has secured 50 paying customers in its first month, spurred on by a bet between the founder and a former colleague.

Launched on the 1st of July 2009, Clear Books is a complete online accounting software package with all the features to rival accounting software market leaders, and more, but at a fraction of the cost.

When chartered accountant and former KPMG employee Tim Fouracre left his city job to start Clear Books one of his soon-to-be-ex colleagues, David Brockton, challenged him to a bet – that Clear Books wouldn’t have 50 paying customers in its first year, with the winner being treated to dinner by the loser.

Accountant

As a firm of Chartered Certified Accountants, we wanted a product to recommend to our clients that is simple to use whilst still retaining the advanced features of other accounting software packages that help business owners know exactly how their business is performing.

The ability to log in and see our clients’ accounts in real time means that we can offer unrivalled customer support and advice without the risks associated with transferring backups or overwriting data.

Spreadsheet Convert

No more excel spreadsheets! Clear Books has transformed the way our company finances are organised and managed. It is addictively fun to use too.

The accounts are accessible by our accountant and directors at any time which allows us to collectively keep on top of our financial performance.

Our customers are automatically emailed when their invoices are late which has improved our cash flow and reduced the admin burden of chasing late payers.

Construction Company

I got a call from a customer, went to see her that day, sent her a quote on Clear Books and she replied within 2 minutes to confirm the job. What a system!

As part of the Construction Industry Scheme we need to create CIS invoices to ensure our tax is calculated correctly. Clear Books is the only online accountancy software that we have found that supports CIS invoicing with our company logo.

Small Business

Fubra is a user and an investor in Clear Books. We needed a business accounting software package that could cope with the growth in our company. We turned to Chartered Accountant Tim Fouracre to develop an online accounting system and Clear Books is the fantastic end product.

The bank import tool has dramatically reduced the time it takes to do the bookkeeping. It’s easy to use, cuts out errors and reconciles every time. The best accounting software on the web, but we would say that!

Start-up

Excellent customer support and an amazing product was what I needed. I wanted the professionalism and industry recognition of an accounts system like Sage, but was put off by its steep learning curve and poor user interface.

Clear Books provides the features and flexibility of Sage with a simple user interface that can be picked up in no time at all.

Allocate a Payment Against an Unpaid Invoice

Thursday 3rd September 2009 by Tim

This video outlines two ways to allocate a payment against an unpaid invoice in Clear Books.

One is to view the system invoice and use the quick pay form which both creates the payment and allocates it against the invoice.

Another is to create a separate payment and then allocate the payment against an invoice as a second step.
