- A Studio ApartTo complete a VAT return in Clear Books navigate to “Reports > VAT”.

Clicking ‘Search for invoices’ will bring up a list of all relevant invoices in the selected date range that will be included in the VAT return.
You may want to exclude some invoices from the VAT return. You can do this by unchecking the relevant checkbox. All invoices are included in the VAT return by default.

When you are happy with your invoice selection hit the ‘Create VAT Return’ button to generate a draft return.

The return is now available to view at any time from the list of all your returns.

When you are ready to send off your return to HMRC and are completely satisfied with the return you must confirm it which will commit it to the system. This cannot be undone.
The purpose of committing to the system is to prevent invoices included in your current VAT return being included in future VAT returns.
Before you make the final commit there is still the option to delete the return and start over if you need to make some changes and have not yet sent the return to HMRC.

Warning: Do not delete a VAT return you have sent to HMRC.
