I have been working at Clear Books since June with the help of an international grants program from my home university, Valladolid, Granada.<\/p>\n<p>Recently I won a competition where I had to write about my experience. As a result, I received an extra 400 Euros towards my sponsorship. It was originally written in Spanish, but now I have the opportunity to share the translated version here:<\/p>\n<p>If I had to summarize my experience in one sentence, I would choose one\u00a0that defines very well what this time in London has meant to me: show\u00a0your self what you are able to do both personally and professionally.<\/p>\n<p>My time in this big city has not been easy, I have had to deal with many\u00a0challenges since I arrived: not knowing the language well enough, not\u00a0knowing what to do at work and being so far away from home.<\/p>\n<p>In my first day at work I arrived with a fear of the unknown, uncertainty\u00a0and delusion. I could barely understand a word about what was going on\u00a0here. However, I soon felt lucky for being in a company full of people\u00a0with new ideas who love what they do. I found everything interesting; the\u00a0cultural differences, the nice work system and the pool table to enjoy\u00a0the free moments.<\/p>\n<p>Before I started this adventure, I sensed that the last year&#8217;s studying\u00a0wouldn&#8217;t be enough for me to face my future profession as a computer\u00a0science engineer. My suspicions were quickly confirmed, but this job is\u00a0helping me with that, everyday I am making a conscious effort to\u00a0overcome the language barrier and learn to develop my work.<\/p>\n<p>Each step I advance in or each problem solved, makes me feel good because it\u00a0means that I am learning and that all the challenging moments I had\u00a0when I started this experience were useful.<\/p>\n<p>I have had some great opportunities here: improving my English, receiving\u00a0my Zend PHP certification thanks to Clear Books, having my first six\u00a0months of professional experience, enjoying one of the most important\u00a0capitals in Europe and last but not least, showing myself what I am able\u00a0to achieve when the circumstances are different.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/2011\/10\/20\/developer-maria-wins-grant\/img_1388\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-10028\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10028\" title=\"IMG_1388\" src=\"http:\/\/clearbooks.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/IMG_13881.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"663\" height=\"442\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello!
