As we launch more of our products, we need them to quickly\u00a0be identified\u00a0as part of the same family.<\/p>\n<p>Clear Books strives to be fun,\u00a0contemporary\u00a0and friendly, and this needs to be reflected in how we present Open Payroll and ourselves. This influences our decision as to what visual direction we would like to approach. Using the new Clear Books page as a foundation, we will be working on this brand with some of the\u00a0corporate\u00a0fonts and assets.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/2013\/03\/28\/open-payroll-designing-a-new-brand\/op-illu-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-14812\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14812\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/OP-illu1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"675\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/OP-illu1.png 675w, https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/OP-illu1-300x266.png 300w, https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/OP-illu1-185x165.png 185w, https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/OP-illu1-230x204.png 230w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Inspired by the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.creativebloq.com\/graphic-design\/what-flat-design-3132112\"> flat design<\/a>\u00a0(a style which is\u00a0crisp, 2 dimensional, minimalist and does not use real life textures to bring digital shapes and objects to life on screen)\u00a0direction we are using for the Clear Books brand, we are taking this idea a step further into styling our illustrations. The vibrant colours, along with overlapping layers, all go into creating a simple yet fun visual style.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/2013\/03\/28\/open-payroll-designing-a-new-brand\/op-inspiration\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-14803\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14803\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/OP-inspiration.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"675\" height=\"990\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/OP-inspiration.png 675w, https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/OP-inspiration-204x300.png 204w, https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/OP-inspiration-112x165.png 112w, https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/OP-inspiration-230x337.png 230w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve spotted some really impressive work from the guys at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/acoustable.com\/\">Acoustable<\/a>\u00a0(That&#8217;s a photo of their speaker table!). We&#8217;re loving the clean and fresh style they have produced with their layout, imagery, photography direction and icon use,\u00a0and this has really inspired us.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/2013\/03\/28\/open-payroll-designing-a-new-brand\/op-shapes\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-14804\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14804\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/OP-shapes.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"675\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/OP-shapes.png 675w, https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/OP-shapes-300x240.png 300w, https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/OP-shapes-206x165.png 206w, https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/OP-shapes-230x184.png 230w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To make the style of the site more ownable for the brand, we&#8217;ve come up with the idea of using geometric shapes to frame our images with special little yellow corner details to complement the new Payroll blue. This small detail already lends itself pretty well to the brand, don&#8217;t you think :)? These framed images will be used as the top title images. Where we will use full image with text, a yellow panel with an angled cut will be used. This will easily reflect the corner idea without too much added fuss, keeping things clean and simple.<\/p>\n<p>So we&#8217;ve laid out some ground work for the visuals and injected some placeholder content to make sure it&#8217;s super flexible. Additionally the dotted line can be used to lead the user&#8217;s eye around the page. This idea was inspired by the\u00a0perforated\u00a0lines you find on traditional payslips.<\/p>\n<p>In the next step for designing for Open Payroll, we will be looking into the typography and spacing and fine tuning everything to become a real mean piece of design.
