{"id":26073,"date":"2016-03-01T10:43:39","date_gmt":"2016-03-01T10:43:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/?p=26073"},"modified":"2016-03-01T15:21:42","modified_gmt":"2016-03-01T15:21:42","slug":"new-improvements-to-our-account-code-features","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/blog\/new-improvements-to-our-account-code-features\/","title":{"rendered":"New improvements to our account code features"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From tomorrow <strong>(Wednesday 2nd March)<\/strong>, you&#8217;ll notice some changes we&#8217;ve made to several of our account codes features which will have a positive effect on your overall user experience when using these tools.<\/p>\n<p>In case you&#8217;ve not used them before, account codes are a way of separating costs and income for your business by certain areas or departments, such as rent, equipment, and interest income.<\/p>\n<h2>What are the changes we\u2019ve made?<\/h2>\n<h3>1. Icons in list of account codes<\/h3>\n<p>Previously, when viewing your list of account codes ( <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Codes<\/strong> ) there was a <strong>Manage<\/strong> drop down menu by each code, as seen below, to allow you to either edit or delete the code. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Screenshot_47.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26075\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Screenshot_47.png\" alt=\"Screenshot_47\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As there were only 2 items in the drop down menu, we\u2019ve replaced this with icons for <strong>Delete<\/strong>\u00a0or <strong>Edit<\/strong>. Additionally, sometimes the \u2018Delete\u2019 option is disabled for some codes so you can now hover over this icon and see an explanation for why it\u2019s not available. Both these changes mean it\u2019s now much easier and clearer to see what options are available to you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New layout\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26083\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Screenshot_62.png\" alt=\"Screenshot_62\" \/><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>2. Adding\/editing account codes<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We\u2019ve made some changes to greatly improve the user experience when editing\/adding an account code and an account type (<strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Codes<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Create<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>Previously, if you were editing an existing account code and then wanted to add a new account type to be associated with it, this was done using 2 separate forms on the same page as shown below.\u00a0However, you would have to fill in and save both forms separately.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/old_account_codes_form.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26130\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/old_account_codes_form.jpg\" alt=\"old_account_codes_form\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve improved this process and reduced the number of clicks\/steps required by condensing these actions into one form. There\u2019s now an <strong>Add new account type<\/strong> icon which allows you to enter this information in the same process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New layout<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/add_new_account.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26125\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/add_new_account.png\" alt=\"add_new_account\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can also see that we\u2019ve changed some of the labels on forms and buttons, making them much clearer for the user.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve saved the changes, there\u2019s now a clear notification of exactly what information has been saved\/ added.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/msg_added_account_and_type.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26128\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/msg_added_account_and_type.jpg\" alt=\"msg_added_account_and_type\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>3. Explanations for why you\u00a0cannot change\u00a0an account type<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In various cases, you may not be able to\u00a0change an account type. We\u2019ve added notifications to give you the specific details of why this is on each occasion.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve made these notifications unobtrusive, and they can be expanded for more information or hidden.
