I\u2019m Callie, Clear Books\u2019 in-house bookkeeper and trainer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I really enjoy working with people who are starting up their first business. There\u2019s nothing quite like the buzz they get from securing their first client, sending off their first invoice and getting paid!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019ve been up and running for a while though, it can be easy to lose track of invoices. So, if you\u2019ve <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/tour\/invoicing\/\">created an invoice<\/a> in Clear Books, sent it out, and the money has come in; how can you match the payment to your invoice?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you create invoices with Clear Books, there\u2019s an easy and quick way to match payments with invoices. The trick is to connect Clear Books with your bank account. Here\u2019s how it works:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Connect a bank feed<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Clear Books accounting software has a great free feature called \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.clearbooks.co.uk\/tour\/banking\/\">bank feeds<\/a>\u2019. Bank feeds allow you to connect Clear Books to your online banking account (e.g. Metro Bank, Lloyds or Revolut &#8211; there are plenty to choose from). You won\u2019t need to log-in to your online banking to see your bank transactions &#8211; instead they\u2019ll automatically appear in Clear Books &#8211; and they update up to four times a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using bank feeds, you\u2019ll be able to see payments for invoices shortly after they\u2019ve cleared in your account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Match payments to invoices<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can view all the imported transactions by clicking on \u2018Explain\u2019 at the bottom of the Clear Books \u2018money\u2019 &gt; \u2018bank account\u2019 screen.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s say you\u2019ve been paid \u00a31,000 for a project you recently completed. You will see this transaction auto-imported:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/fJtNN1C_yMBrWkvwotqLNf9ji4bpMcQ7fo7351o1txPGO0W2V0KRRjVaqWpkdtqmLpliMbUPmTp3e-C03gyzIzQqGA1O3Kz3_Omoo4MD8hIirw4py0LTv1HFSjNL4RPxmuayhYxA\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>By choosing the name of your customer in the \u2018From\u2019 drop down, Clear Books will automatically populate a list of invoices made out to this customer. All it takes is to select the correct invoice by clicking \u2018Allocate to existing invoice\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>It\u2019s that easy to track invoices<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you wish to see your invoice, simply navigate to \u2018sales\u2019 &gt; \u2018invoices\u2019 and switch to the \u2018all\u2019 view on the right hand side. You should see your paid invoice listed as \u2018paid\u2019.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ready to set up your bank feed?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Setting up a bank feed is easy. Here\u2019s how to get started:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Click \u2018Money\u2019 &gt; \u2018Bank Accounts\u2019 in the Clear Books main navigation<\/li><li>Select \u2018add bank feed\u2019<\/li><li>Follow the steps to set up your bank feed<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re not an instant expert and want some help getting started, our friendly support team is available to help.
