The &#8220;2010 Election Survey: Business and The Economy&#8221; has been completed\u00a0over the last 24 hours\u00a0by\u00a033,279\u00a0members of the general public who gave their opinions on issues affecting the economy and the election.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Findings:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"magicdomid97861-line\">\n<ul>\n<li>In the wake of bigotgate it appears Labour&#8217;s support is waning with only 11% of respondents intending to vote for them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"magicdomid97863-line\">\n<ul>\n<li>In what will be one of tonight&#8217;s key talking points the majority of people want to see a cut in public debt now.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"magicdomid97865-line\">\n<ul>\n<li>Tories might have support of big business but small businesses are not bothered about NI rise of 1% with 51% of them saying it won&#8217;t affect hiring.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"magicdomid98027-line\">\n<ul>\n<li>Lib dem deputy leader Vince Cable chosen as the best man to run our finances with 35% of the vote.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"magicdomid98182-line\">\n<ul>\n<li>Tories winning the hearts but not yet minds &#8211; 43.1% of people say they best represent their views or have the best policies for ther business, but only 35.8% are prepared to vote for them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Key Statistics:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Of the 33,279\u00a0People Surveyed in the last 24 hours:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Who will you be voting for in the election?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"magicdomid97914-line\">\n<ul>\n<li>36% Conservative \/ 11% Labour \/\u00a019% Liberal Democrat \/ 11% Other.<\/li>\n<li>20% were still undecided and 3% won&#8217;t be voting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong><em>What approach to debt would you like the government to take?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"magicdomid98187-line\">\n<ul>\n<li>51% Cut Today \/ 33% Cut In A Year.<\/li>\n<li>13% were unsure and 3% felt government debt did not need to be cut.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong><em>Should banks be broken up into smaller institutions?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"magicdomid98188-line\">\n<ul>\n<li>Yes 63% \/ No 23% \/ Unsure 14%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong><em>Will a 1% increase in National insurance result in a reduction in new hires in your business? <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Of the 6,221\u00a0businesses and self employed that took part in the survey:<\/p>\n<div id=\"magicdomid98189-line\">\n<ul>\n<li>51% No \/ 34%\u00a0Yes \/ Unsure 15%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Tim Fouracre, Clear Books MD commented &#8220;I think the most notable outcome of the survey is that there is an appetite for real debate on key issues instead of spin.&#8221; He added &#8220;Politicians need to start straight talking on the economy. The survey was taken by\u00a06,221\u00a0small\u00a0business owners,\u00a016,189\u00a0employees, and\u00a010,869\u00a0members of the general public who are economically inactive (e.g. pensioners, students and full time parents)\u00a0 from across the UK. The respondents were made up of people subscribed to PetrolPrices.com and OurProperty.co.uk\u00a0these are large consumer web sites owned by Fubra Limited which is planning two further surveys before the election on key issues of: Motoring and Transport and Property and Inheritance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Clear Books<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Clear Books is an online accounting application for small businesses.
