This first step is to be commended.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">However, there is a second step that is infinitely more helpful for the manager or small business owner. At the same time that you identify a problem, suggest a solution.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">When talking to staff I\u2019ve always tried to challenge them with, \u2018what would you do?\u2019 or \u2018what do you think is best?\u2019. I\u2019ve recently started returning emails if get sent only the problem. I\u2019ll request a suggested solution too.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The employee knows the problem because they raised it. They are the most informed person on the subject. In my experience the employee either has a great solution or has a couple of solutions as options. They are simply looking for approval.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It saves so much time if an employee says, \u2018We have problem x and I think we should do y\u2019. Then the manager can say, \u2018I agree\u2019 or \u2018Ok, but have you thought about z\u2019?<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">No one wants more problems. We need solutions!<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">So employees of the world don\u2019t wait to be asked for your solution, just give it.<\/p>\n<p>Autonomous problem solving is really really important.<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Autonomous problem solving.
