Send real time PAYE information to HMRC

Computer thought bubble

Since April 2013, it has been mandatory for employers to update HMRC with employees’ salaries and deductions on each payday. By sending real time information (RTI) to HMRC, Clear Books Payroll can keep on top of this for you, leaving you to get on with growing your business.

The software submits these important details to HMRC electronically, saving you time and taking the stress out of payroll. It’s important to note that RTI submissions have replaced the P35 and P14 annual returns to HMRC.

With Clear Books Payroll, you can tailor this feature to fit your business’s needs. It gives you the option to submit weekly, fortnightly, monthly RTI or whenever is most convenient for your business.

Generate payroll documents required by HMRC

Print P45 and P60 forms for employees

Our payroll software keeps track of the forms you’ll need for the end of the tax year (P60) or if an employee leaves (P45), making it easy to keep up-to-date with all employees personal tax information.

View P11 and P14 forms for your company

Manage and control your company’s tax information by viewing all of the HMRC documents in your payroll account. You can track tax deductions (P11) and view your employees’ end of year tax summaries (P14) onscreen at any time.

Get your business ready for auto enrolment

Our new auto enrolment feature allows you to set your business’s staging date so you can keep track of when you need to start complying with the government's new pension regulations. It also enables you to carry out an assessment of your workforce so you can determine your employees categories.

Missed contribution alert

To help you avoid errors when filling out your important information, we have a handy missed contribution alert. This will activate if you move an employee's pension join date back to a previous PRP (Pay Reference Period). This will inform you that you might have missed a contribution, to ensure everything you're submitting is correct.

Employee overview page

With our employee overview page, you can easily filter through your current and former employees in alphabetical order, making it easier to find who you're looking for. The screen also shows information about that specific employee's pension. You can view their P11, P14 and P45 forms, and denote employees, directors and suppliers. The layout of the page matches the 'customer list' in our accounting application, so users of this will find it familiar.

Frequently asked payroll questions

What is the £3,000 employment allowance?

The allowance will reduce your employers' (secondary) Class 1 National Insurance each time you run your payroll until the £3,000 has gone or the tax year ends (whichever is sooner). You could get up to £3,000 a year off your National Insurance bill. To find out more visit the Governement website.

What is Full Payment Submission (FPS)?

An FPS is the most common type of submission. For each employee being paid, it includes details such as:

  • Name
  • National Insurance number
  • Date of birth
  • Gross pay
  • Deductions

An FPS also tells HMRC about employees who are joining or leaving employment. The deadline for full payment submission is on or before each pay day.

What is Employer Payment Summary (EPS)?

Some employers need to file a monthly Employer Payment Summary with HMRC. Examples include:

  • Where the employer is reclaiming statutory maternity or paternity pay.

  • Employers who have had tax withheld under the Construction Industry Scheme and are offsetting this against their employee's payroll deductions.

  • Employers notifying HMRC that they will not make any payments to employees for a specified number of months.

EPS Submissions need to be be made on or before the 19th day of the month after the one to which the submission pertains.
