VAT Returns Online
Online VAT Filing will be mandatory for most businesses from April 2010. Did you know that mandatory online filing of VAT returns is just around the corner? Is your business ready?
HMRC has indicated that from 1 April 2010 it is expected that certain VAT registered businesses will be required to file their VAT returns online:
- All newly registering VAT businesses (whatever their turnover)
- All VAT registered businesses with an annual VAT exclusive turnover of £100,000 or more

How to Register for VAT Online
If you are not registered for HMRC online services then go to HMRC registration. You will need the following information to hand to register for VAT online:
- VAT Registration Number
- Principal Place Of Business postcode
- Date of Registration
- Month of last VAT Return period end
- The Box 5 figure on your last VAT return
Submitting VAT Online
Once registered you will need to log into the HMRC online VAT filling service at the end of each quarter and complete your VAT return online.
