Online Accounting Keeps Adding Up: Clear Books Hits 1,000 Customers

Online Accounting Keeps Adding Up: Clear Books Hits 1,000 Customers

London (16/11/10) – Clear Books, the online accounting system for small businesses, is pleased to announce that it has exceeded the important milestone of 1,000 paying customers.

Clear Books officially launched in July 2009 and took a year to reach its first 500 paying customers. The second 500 subscribed in  just under 4.5 months.

Clear Books is an example of how a UK company can start up on a shoe string budget in difficult financial times and prosper, powered by British determination and the marketing power of word of mouth.

Tim Fouracre was 26 when he founded Clear Books and spent the first 16 months coding the core web application from his lounge. Now his company employs 7 people, has offices in West Kensington and is expanding rapidly.

Commenting on the achievement Tim said, “This milestone is important to us. Not only does it underpin us financially, but it validates our accounting system. We believe that we are developing the best accounting software in the UK and now 1,000 small businesses agree with us. It’s been an interesting journey and one in which we have often felt like the underdog, but we are a young, independent and dynamic company that believes in punching above its weight.”

With November on track for another record month in new subscriptions, Clear Books is gunning straight for current UK market leaders Sage and its 6 million customers.

1,000 down and 5,999,000 or so to go.

About the Author - Lizzie Fouracre

Hello. My name is Lizzie and I look after the sales, marketing, training and partner relationships here at Clear Books.

At Birmingham City University, I studied Media & Communications. I worked for 2 years at a Microsoft consultancy as part of a business graduate scheme.

I decided that I really wanted to work for a small, establishing company - where my efforts would be hugely recognised. I joined Clear Books when we were just a team of five. I have since seen the team grow to where we are today and it's so exciting.

I love working with such a young, passionate and hard working team. It makes my Monday mornings very easy!

Other than my passion for Clear Books and the users joining daily I have some outside interests too! A big part of my life is Bikram Yoga. If you're not sure what that is a short description would be "90 minutes, 26 postures repeated twice in a room set at 40'c". I do enjoy a challenge!

Some other random facts about me: I grew up in Ghana, I spent my year before University teaching English in Tanzania, I'm currently taking my AAT qualification and most importantly Tim is not my husband.
