My name is Ellen McLoughlin, and I’ve spent this week doing work experience with Clear Books. I’m 17 years old and currently halfway through my A-levels, and I wanted to have some work experience to know what working in a growing business was like. Clear Books seemed like a fun, young and enthusiastic company to work with.

I’ve spent the week with the marketing team and I’ve experienced lots of different ways that the company markets their products to their customers. One of my first tasks was to contact a happy customer about completing a new case study for the Clear Books website. This was a great opportunity for me to learn how to communicate with people in a professional manner.

During the week I’ve also attended meetings with the marketing team and other members of the company. This has given me an insight into how the different teams in the company interact and work together. One of the meetings I attended was about an upcoming Clear Books event. I’ve always been interested in event planning so this was a brilliant opportunity for me to see the logistics of what goes into planning a major event for a business.

My work experience has coincided with Clear Books’ second round of cloud funding, and I was lucky enough to construct a survey and email our new investors about their opinions and reasons for investing. I’m really grateful for the team letting me help with such important tasks.

My work experience at Clear Books has been brilliant! I’d like to thank everyone for being so friendly and happy to help me. I’ve been able to gain an understanding of the business and the tasks that are required to help it run smoothly. Though I’m leaving, I wish I was already 18 so I could buy some shares in this brilliant company!
