Clear Books has launched the new website for Clear Books NL, our Dutch subsidiary allowing business owners in the Netherlands to take advantage of the many great features of Clear Books’ Online boekhoudsoftware (online accounting software!).

Our NL team has been working hard over the past few months to launch the Dutch site, translating almost 25,000 words and consuming many cups of coffee in the process. Being a cloud based company was a huge benefit, making the process go faster and providing the perfect platform to communicate between countries.

Internationalising a product brings to light interesting facts you might not have anticipated . One of them was the decimal placing. It appears that our Dutch neighbours like to use an odd decimal point symbol. It seemed like a minor change to be made; however, changing the decimal symbol to a comma, left the software completely broken in places and resulted in the developers reaching for the Ibuprofen to ease their headaches.

Nevertheless, the beta-version launch last week was a big success and we’re welcoming new trial users every day who can use the software free of charge for now. We’re receiving many feedback forms and working hard to fix any bugs, so that Clear Books NL is on its way to being ready for the official launch in April next year.
