The Clear Books team is continually expanding so last week the office had a make over and redesign to accommodate the additional numbers. I therefore spent a day working from home and I found it quite tough!

I live with two great friends so our home is not exactly set up to accomodate hard core working sessions (think exercise dvds, yoga matts, plants).

During the day I received lots of helpful tweets thanks to our customers who are obviously pros at working from home.

@AM_Wilson tweeted “make sure you write a list of things to do at the start of the day, have a proper lunch and do not stay inPJs :)”

I managed the pyjama part!

@matt_sharpe directed me to an article listing 10 tips for home workers. My favourite tip was ‘snack sensibly!’

One biscuits every email seemed sensible enough to me.

Of couse the Clear Books HQ provides a brilliant working environment.

However, I often find myself out and about in central London meeting current and potential customers. In between meetings I will usually retreat to an overpriced coffee house. It’s fine to check emails, but it’s incredibly distracting if like me, one of your favourite past times is people watching!

Today I discovered the o2 Workshop, a very cool hub allowing businesses to work, meet together and collaborate in an open working environment.

The space has break out areas for group sessions and 1-2-1 meetings. There are plenty of hotspot areas for single workers to get online for free!  So long as your visit to the o2 Workshop is business related there are absolutely no charges for using the space!

You don’t even have to be an o2 customer (but probably will be hugely tempted due to their fabulous perk!).

The o2 Workshop run weekly seminars and networking events designed to help support businesses with expert guidance and networking opportunities.

Today I attended “Planning for Business Growth” which was a 3 hour session held by Advantage Business Partnerships. A great insight from guest speakers and warm opportunity to network with the always friendly small business crowd.

Perhaps you visit London from time to time and need somewhere to meet clients in a more professional setting rather than a noisy coffee house. Or maybe you are finding it tough working from home, with distractions surrounding you – like the biscuit tin haunted me last week! Maybe you already have a fantastic work set up – but occasionally you need a larger space to accommodate a group session or seminar.

Whatever your needs – the o2 Workshop is a fantastic working environment for small business and a place I am now going to use in between my central London trips. Hopefully see you there!
