With Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT fast approaching, Clear Books has made a successful MTD beta submission to HMRC. The smooth-running test paves the way for thousands of Clear Books users to complete simple three-step VAT returns directly to HMRC.

Chris Morford, Head of Account Management for Clear Books expressed how proud he was of the Product team for their hard work, “Our team has worked closely with HMRC to develop an online accounting system that’s easy to use, affordable, and provides the data entry options of either an online spreadsheet or a fully featured online accounting interface.”

Whilst this is the first Making Tax Digital return for Clear Books, it certainly will not be the last. Clear Books will continue to participate in the Making Tax Digital pilot, providing practices with access to digital VAT filing.

The return process

The MTD VAT return process involved three simple steps. Firstly, the accountant navigated to the Clear Books VAT return section. Next, they selected the VAT period they wished to complete the return for. Lastly, they confirmed the return.

You can see screen shots from each stage of the process by visiting Clear Books MTD Software webpage and navigating to Simple 3-Step MTD Returns. Accountants who wish to take part in the pilot may be eligible to do so through Clear Books. Simply contact our team on 0800 862 0202 to find out more.
