Many of you will be aware that we have a product roadmap that covers planned product improvements and enhancements over the next one to two years, and we review this twice a month to check that the priorities are still correct, and review any new requests received from customers and partners.

Two major development projects are underway or about to start, both of which are important to our accounting partners:

Payroll

A range of enhancements are planned, designed to make payroll management and processing easier, especially for those of you running payroll bureaus. We’ll also be making the changes required to handle the legislative payroll requirements from the new Tax Year in April.

Subscriptions

Work has already commenced, focussed on making it much easier for Accounting Partners to manage their clients’ subscriptions, irrespective of whether they are based on monthly subscriptions, or annual or multi year bulk license arrangements. We’ll also be introducing new options to archive client accounts or make them “dormant”; important capabilities when a client either moves to a new accountant or ceases trading. We’ll provide more detail on these closer to the release date.

Making Tax Digital

Of course, like you, we’re waiting for HMRC to confirm precisely what the proposed MTD initiative actually means in practice, but suffice it to say that we’re already planning new versions of the product designed to make it easier for clients to move to online accounting (and therefore online submission) who wouldn’t otherwise consider using accounting software. Again, we’ll provide more detail on these as the plans are finalised.
