Who are you?

I’m Tom, a developer at Clear Books. I joined the company in June 2011 on a years industrial placement with the University of Kent and then returned in 2013 after finishing my degree.

What does your role at Clear Books entail?

I spend my time working on improvements and fixes to our suite of products – Accounting, Payroll, HR – as well as our own applications we use internally.

In your opinion, what is the best time-saving Clear Books feature?

Auto email reminders are a great time saving feature to save you having to chase up late paying customers yourself. You can configure which reminders to send when in Sales > Email > Settings

What’s the most exciting thing you/ your team are working on at the moment?

One of the most interesting projects we’ve undertaken recently has been a new deployment system which allows us to update Clear Books throughout the day without any interruptions to the service.

What apps and tools can’t you live without and why?

Like all of the developers I’m a huge fan of PHPStorm, a development tool which helps to automate many aspects of software development.

When you’re not working at Clear Books, what do you enjoy doing?

When not at work I can typically be found tinkering about with interesting new technologies. I’ve also spent time helping my parents look after guide dog puppies, which you too can get involved with at http://www.guidedogs.org.uk/supportus/volunteering/what-can-i-do/puppy-walkers
