User Backup Logo IconThe fourth step to redundancy is to allow Clear Books users to create their own backups of their databases.

Clear Books users can generate their own backups of their account database and email it to their registered email address. This backup is currently sent as an encrypted database dump, and in the future will also be available in .csv format for use in spreadsheet software and importing into a separate MySQL database.

The process was summarised in a previous blog article:

This is a quick note to let everyone know that you can now personally back up your own data. When logged into the system click the new Save icon in the top right hand corner to save a copy of your own data to your computer.

By navigating to Tools > Data > Backup you can also

  1. Create restore points
  2. Download copies of previous restore points to your computer
  3. Email yourself a copy of your encrypted data on a weekly basis
  4. Restore a previous back up

Note that, for your security, all back up options are limited to admins on an account.
