Another day and another new online accounting system is vying to make an impact on the UK market.

**Yawn** nothing new there then. Good luck to them! These young guns will have lots of hard work ahead of them: features, bugs, marketing… oh hang on it’s Sage, the largest desktop based accounting software provider to SMEs in the UK.

A cursory review suggests that SageOne is very basic compared to almost every established online accounting system.

However, this is Sage we’re talking about. They already have competitors KashFlow, FreeAgent and now Clear Books talking about them! They had no trouble finding their way into The Telegraph and PC Pro to name a couple of publications. No one else has that sort of clout to stir up such interest.

And that is the very reason why this is good news for the online accounting industry, particularly the likes of Clear Books. The Sage marketing machine will raise awareness to the benefits of online accounting. It will put the industry firmly in front of accountants and businesses, many of whom are still blissfully unaware that this fantastic time saving technology exists.

Interesting times. We will continue to watch how this plays out with interest!
